Bayfield, WI: Big Top Chautauqua and Queen's View B&B
A quaint village on the shore of Lake Superior
We recently headed to Bayfield, WI—a charming little town in northern Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior for a night of Lyle Lovett at Big Top Chautauqua, a delightful semi-outdoor venue just 10 minutes from town. The show was incredible, and since my husband has known Lyle for many years through the motorcycling world, we scored some backstage time prior to the show.
During the show, Lyle gave a shout-out to my husband and his business, Aerostich, for making “the best motorcycle gear.” Not stopping there, he dedicated a song to me! Cue the swooning! Our little connection is that we both graduated from Texas A&M University with Liberal Arts degrees. (Cue your favorite English major joke here.)
The concert was incredible (as always), and what made our stay even more special was this super cute B&B. Drumroll, please…
Queen’s View B&B
Thanks to Queen’s View B&B and a partnership for a discounted room, we found ourselves in the most adorable B&B. I kept imagining it as the set of a Rom-Com where Paul Rudd and Rachel McAdams have a meet cute.
Queen’s Room
The B&B has 7 rooms which can sleep up to 17 people. We stayed in the Queen’s Room, complete with a private balcony and a huge, luxurious bathroom. One of the best parts of the stay was the night’s sleep. Wow!!! The mattress is so comfortable, but forget the mattress…the sheets are from another world. Have you heard of the brand, Parachute? I hadn’t. No wonder why…they are $$$! Softest and best sheets of my life. Turns out, they IRON them! Top notch.

Breakfast
Breakfast was a nice banquet style spread with scrumptious homemade blueberry muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. Caffeine addicts and juice aficionados both had their drinks cut out for them, however, the only little downfall to the stay is the orange juice, I would only give it a 7. The rest of the stay was a 10!

The Grounds
The garden is a blooming masterpiece, complete with a babbling brook and a playhouse for kids. The wraparound porch is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon of book reading or cozying up to your loved one. I even took a dip in the plunge pool, a refreshing way to start the day.
Recently Queen’s View got a new edition…a sauna! As of July 22, it isn’t hooked up yet, but will soon become the perfect place to escape those winter blues. (Yes, I said it, winter is coming…)

Mona’s Suite
I also peeked into Mona’s Suite, which is a perfect spot for families, as there are two separate rooms and one large sitting area. It was really cozy up there!

Potpourri of Awesomeness
Notable mentions: the welcome gifts, in-room coffee/tea setup, and all of the beautiful flowers strewn about the area. To top it off, Margaret, the host and co-owner, is a delightful conversationalist and always ready to assist.

Visit Bayfield
Would I stay at Queen’s View B&B again? In a heartbeat. I might just return to Bayfield solely for another night in those luxurious sheets. Until then, I’ll be dreaming of the next time a musician dedicates a song to me!
IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS 📆
Something I read: Britney Spears memoir, “The Woman In Me”. 2 stars. Tough read. I mean it’s a super easy read because it reads like a teenage diary, and a tough read because it reads like a teenage diary. I give her props for trying to make her life what she wants it to be and I sincerely wish her well on her ride.
Something I heard: “Road to Georgia” by Danny Frank & the Smoky Gold at Superior Porchfest. So good.
Something I saw: A bunch of Land Rovers at the annual Minnesota Land Rover Club picnic. Muddy. Dirty. Noisy. Big fun.
